Bursary Applications Now Open for 1st N-SPRITE International Conference on Suicide Prevention

Are you an early-career researcher (ECR) or student passionate about making a tangible impact on suicide prevention? Do you want to connect with global experts, present your work, and help shape multisectoral solutions on an international stage? The N-SPRITE organizing committee is delighted to announce the launch of its bursary applications for ECRs, offering financial support to attend the 1st N-SPRITE International Conference on Suicide Prevention.

Bursary Award Details

These bursaries will support early career researchers, covering registration fee, travel and accommodation. Accommodation will be provided at the venue and the registration fees will be reimbursed. Part of the travel expenses (up to INR 2000/-) will be covered upon submission of relevant bills.

• Receive support for presenting their research at the conference and be recognized as N-SPRITE ECR Fellows.
• Receive access to all general scientific sessions, skill-building workshops, and networking events.
• Build lasting international and multidisciplinary professional networks.
• Gain exposure to upcoming research spanning biomedical, public health, and social dimensions of suicide prevention.

Eligibility Criteria for Awardees

Applicants must be students currently enrolled in, or early career researchers within five years of completing, a postgraduate or doctoral degree, with a demonstrated focus on suicide prevention. Eligible disciplines include:

• Mental & Allied Health: Psychiatry, Psychology, Psychiatric Social Work, Nursing, Medicine, Epidemiology, and Public Health.
• Multisectoral, Humanities & Allied Fields: Neurobiology, Genetics, Sociology, Journalism, Agriculture, Law/Criminology, Ethics, Technology/Digital Health, and any other discipline contributing to multisectoral suicide prevention strategies.

We welcome applications from any academic discipline or professional background whose work directly contributes to suicide prevention, policy, or postvention.

Attendance is mandatory for all three days of the conference (1 Dec – 3 Dec 2026) to be eligible for the award.

Selection Process

Awardees will be evaluated and selected by the Scientific Committee of the Conference based on the following criteria:

• Abstract & Registration: Applicants must have completed conference registration and submitted an abstract for presentation to be eligible.
• Research Focus: Demonstrated engagement in suicide research through postgraduate, MPhil, or PhD coursework/dissertations.
• Motivational Statement: Submission of a statement outlining the applicant's current work, research interests, and expected takeaways from the conference.
• Institutional Endorsement: A formal letter of support from the Head of Department (HOD) or primary research supervisor.
